It’s finally here. Rockstar gave us our first look at the follow-up to the John Marston story, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Well, maybe. In the painfully short trailer, we see the stunning visuals of the Wild, Wild West, and a potential voice-over from the leader of Marston’s old gang. That’s pretty much it, but it is a teaser after all.
All signs are pointing to the fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a prequel. So we’ll get to play as John Marston in his gang days, before he turned to a life of herding cattle. But with 7 characters in the gang, there could be an opportunity for the old switcheroo mechanic from Grand Theft Auto V.
It was also revealed that the domain name for Red Dead Online has been secured by Take-Two, so we can expect to see a GTA V-style multiplayer mode.
The last game in the series, 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, received critical acclaim for its story, characters and the open world.
As long as we don’t have to play as his boring ass son Jack Marston again, everyone’s a winner.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release in Autumn 2017 on Xbox One and PS4. No PC version has been confirmed.
