Ah April, a time for bunnies, chocolate, and a ton of new video games to treat yourself to. Check out our guide to see what’s worth buying.

Yooka-Laylee

Release Date: April 11    Platform: PS4 / PC / Xbox One

yookalaylee-featured

If you loved playing Banjo-Kazooie as a kid, or an adult, it’s time to get lost in spiritual successor Yooka-Laylee. We got chance to play it at last year’s EGX and we fell in love with Yooka and his lil’bat buddy Laylee. The retro-style platformer will surely get those nostalgia cogs turning.

Stardew Valley: Collector’s Edition

Release Date: April 13    Platform: PS4 / Xbox One

StardewValley

One of the most popular Steam games of last year is finally getting its disc release on console. In Stardew Valley: Collector’s Edition you get the highly addictive farming crossed with RPG experience players have been loving for the past year since its release, and some nice little extras including a Pelican Town map, a guidebook and the truly gorgeous soundtrack to the game. Definitely worth picking up even if you have the game digitally.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Release Date: April 28    Platform: Switch

mariokart8

It was only a matter of time before we saw Mario Kart 8 reincarnated on the Nintendo Switch. It was arguably one of the best games on the ill-fated Wii U, so hopefully it can realise its full potential on its ‘switch’ to the Switch. In addition to the super fun racing with your favourite Mario characters, you get some of the DLC with other Nintendo characters like the Animal Crossing characters and tracks, and an all-new battle mode which was a massive miss on the Wii U version.

Little Nightmares

Release Date: April 28    Platform: PS4 / PC / Xbox One

littlenightmares

Follow lil’raincoated Six as she confronts all of your worst childhood fears, presumably including really gross ginormous chefs in Little Nightmares. Kidnapped from her home bask in the horror she endures as just try escape from The Maw. It may be April but this could be straight from your Halloween nightmares.

Buy Little Nightmares (PS4) on Amazon.
